Temporary Closure of the Fort King Paddle Trail | Silver Springs State Park

Temporary Closure of the Fort King Paddle Trail

Ocala, FL - Starting Monday, January 13th, the Fort King Paddle Trail will be closed for two weeks.

During this temporary closure, paddlers will be rerouted to the main river, with all routes requiring a straight paddle out and back along the same path. The decision to close the trail is aimed at maintaining a clear and safe waterway for all visitors.

As part of the adjustments, the 1-hour paddle option will be suspended until the trail reopens. Paddlers opting for the 2-hour experience will notice a newly placed marker at the center of the river, which designates the turnaround point.

Park officials appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation during this period. “These measures help us provide a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, and we’re grateful for the community’s support,” a spokesperson noted.

The trail is expected to reopen in two weeks, restoring full access to one of the area’s most beloved paddling routes. Until then, paddlers are encouraged to enjoy the alternative routes and continue exploring the beauty of the main river.

Stay tuned for updates, and thank you for your patience as we work to enhance the paddling experience!
