Florida Springs Institute’s Building Dedication Celebration

Florida Springs Institute’s Building Dedication Celebration

The Howard T. Odum Florida Springs Institute (FSI) is set to commemorate a significant milestone with the dedication of its Florida Springs Welcome Center on March 22, 2025. Located at 18645 High Springs Main St., High Springs, FL 32643, this event symbolizes FSI's enduring commitment to springs conservation and education.

Established in 2010, FSI has been at the forefront of springs restoration and protection. The acquisition and development of the Welcome Center have been pivotal components of FSI's three-year capital campaign, "Florida Springs Reborn," aiming to secure a permanent home for the organization.

The Welcome Center, encompassing over 4,000 square feet, offers:

  • Educational exhibits
  • Public meeting spaces
  • Classrooms
  • A research laboratory
  • A gift shop
  • Administrative offices

Since its soft opening in November 2022, the center has hosted various events, attracting over 1,000 visitors and serving as a hub for springs-related education and community engagement.

The dedication ceremony on March 22 will feature:

  • Guest speakers
  • Guided tours of the facility
  • Interactive exhibits

This event offers attendees an opportunity to learn about Florida's springs and FSI's ongoing conservation efforts.

Dr. Robert L. Knight, founder of FSI, has been a stalwart advocate for Florida's springs for over four decades. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing the institute's mission to protect these vital natural resources.

The dedication of the Florida Springs Welcome Center marks a new chapter in FSI's journey, reinforcing its role as a leader in springs science and education. Community members, supporters, and springs enthusiasts are encouraged to attend the ceremony and participate in the celebration of this significant achievement.
